AROUND TOWN

Passport to Fishing

The Village received a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to sponsor a youth training program called Passport to Fishing.

The program was presented by 30 volunteers from the Village and surrounding area, under the direction of the Village Park Committee.

There was a total of 37 children participating in the program, ranging in age from 4 to 17.  All of the young participants were awarded a certificate and a fishing pole for completion of the training.

The Village Park Committee would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the many volunteers who worked hard to make this program a success.

Fishing Derby 2009

The annual Village fishing derby was held on Saturday June 13 in Williams Park.

There were more than 90 participants for this annual event, sponsored by the Village Park Committee.

There were, of course, some very big fish pulled from the quarry.

Some small fish.

And all of the fishermen, regardless of the size of their catch received a certificate for participating in this successful event.

But the most important catch of the day were the smiles on the faces of those that took part in the annual event!
